Paima Studios is excited to announce that the Paima Volcaneers 🌋 will launch on November 30th, bringing with them a new class of gaming NFTs that mark the first step into a novel model of value accrual.
NFTs are known across the industry for their scarcity and exclusivity. Everyone is familiar with the “value” of showing off by being part of an expensive-to-enter member only club, yet this exclusivity has been revealed to be a weak value proposition.
The current downturn in the NFT market indicates that the scarcity-based mindset may work short term, but it is not enough to sustain a project for the long term. Scarcity relies on trends, and, just as in all other similar industries such as watches and fashion, trends come and go and the “value” associated with a product falls away just the same.
As such, we decided to re-analyze what makes NFTs truly valuable. We started from first principles and arrived at a new solution for the problems plaguing the NFT world, and incorporated it into our larger vision of decentralized blockchain gaming.
The Dawn Of The Value Era
We at Paima Studios believe that the Scarcity Era is what allowed NFTs to hit a local maxima of gaining serious attention, but as a result, acquired low retention both in and out of the crypto world. The general public has heard about NFTs, but the percentage of them who actually use NFTs on a daily basis is very close to zero. The Value Era, on the other hand, is what will allow NFTs to transition into a technology that millions of users will benefit from on an everyday basis.
NFTs in their current form are forever limited because they scope themselves out of mass adoption, thereby preventing economies of scale to be built around their NFTs and real value from accruing. Furthermore, these NFT projects do not technologically differentiate themselves from one another. They all simply copy-paste the same smart contracts and lack any innovative development which would enable the actions of their owners to enhance the NFTs themselves. In other words, existing projects are not designed to survive, let alone thrive, in the upcoming Value Era of NFTs.
The Paima Volcaneers 🌋, on the other hand, are designed to pioneer the Value Era and lead as its premier example. Each Volcaneer will be available for a low price (currently 10 milkADA) and with an uncapped supply users do not have to worry about rushing to get in early to join an exclusive community. The Paima Volcaneers will continue to be minted in new batches as demand requires, thereby keeping the barrier to entry extremely low.
This novel pricing and supply model thus allows us to build towards relying on the Volcaneers as a key part of our vision of a decentralized blockchain gaming future. We believe that your NFTs should become more valuable as you play, thereby flipping the old scarcity model upside down. In other words, Stateful NFTs are the future.
