Jungle Wars is Paima Studios’ upcoming casual web3 blockchain game which lives on-chain. It highlights the potential of a new model of decentralized blockchain gaming that is on the horizon which is only possible thanks to Paima Engine.
We will explore the specifics of Jungle Wars’ implementation and why it matters for blockchain gaming in a future post, however, today we will focus on laying out the backstory of a desperate struggle in the Jungle which evolves into a cascading conflict (potentially spanning across games) for which technology is a core stepping stone on the path to victory.
How the Jungle Wars Began
For centuries the animals of the jungle **have lived in relative peace. **Large and varied territories provided all of the jungle’s creatures with an abundance of food and space for themselves. The animals of the jungle rarely had the opportunity to tread on one another’s paths, but as time flowed, so did change come to the jungle.
Though most animals didn’t want to admit to themselves, the Jungle was shrinking, and had been for a while.** The animals had been led to explore every inch of their territory and patrol their boundaries more regularly **— both to seek opportunities to exploit and to prevent enemies from sneaking in. Naturally, this led to significantly more encounters between the animals of the Jungle, leading to tensions escalating and the cloud of conflict brewed on the horizon.
The straw that broke the camel’s back was when a plane happened to crash directly on the Sloth’s territory a few months ago. Too slow to make it to the scene in time, all of the other animals already arrived and inspected the remains of the wreckage. Quick-witted as he is, Anaconda discovered that the plane was delivering a new technology that he once saw human’s use when they ventured out into the jungle; Slingshots.
By the time Sloth arrived, anaconda had already slithered away with a box of slingshots himself, and the rest of the animals were rushing to do the same. Within mere minutes, Sloth was left alone in front of a burning plane with five slingshots scattered across the ground; the few that happened to fall out during the ruckus the other animals made. Though he didn’t fully grasp the implications of what lay before him, he slowly garnered a sense of foreboding for the days ahead.
With this new technological advancement dropped upon them from the heavens, the animals began to train in the new skill of slinging. Some with intentions of grandiosity, some focused on defending all that they have, the slingshot instigated a new era in the Jungle that no animal could have predicted: The Jungle Wars.
